DOGS LOOKING FOR HOME
Some of our dogs are not the right fit for working life, kennel life, or both. For these dogs, we would like to offer the opportunity to live outside the kennel environment, with a lifestyle and activities better suited to their needs.
On this page, we introduce dogs that would be ready to move to a new home once the right match is found.
We want to emphasize that none of the dogs looking for a home are at risk of euthanasia. Until a suitable home is found, they continue to live with us, enjoying daily free running, care and companionship as part of their pack.
We do not rehome dogs without meeting the future owner in person. Adopting a dog from us always requires at least one visit to our kennel. Finding the right home is more important than finding a home quickly.
If a particular dog catches your interest, please don't hesitate to contact us.
If you would like to offer a home to one of our dogs but are unsure which dog might be the best match for you, get in touch and we will be happy to discuss your situation and help find the right companion.
ODIN
Male, neutred
2.7.2018
Personality: Calm and cuddly. Open and easygoing, also with new things. Very social, with both humans and other dogs.
Health notes: Odin has had sideways gait which has caused muscular pain and unevennees, and pain on his back. We were not able to correct it with any special harness, and therefore he has back problems with longer journeys/heavier loads. He joined us last summer from another kennel, and we pulled him back from sled work after noticing the issue. During the winter season Odin worked as a fan favorite on husky walks.
Ideal home: He would enjoy a lot of attention, and a patient home to give space to adapt to the transition from kennel life to housedog life.

MORTTI
Male, neutred
29.1.2023
Personality: Takes a bit time to warm up, but once he’s used to you, he enjoys cuddles. Can adjust to new things pretty fast when handled patiently and gently. On leash walks and outside the kennel he is insecure and cautious. Tourist work is too much for him in a long run, we would see him being happier as an active pet.
Health notes: Missing one toe from left front paw due to previous injury. Picky eater.
Ideal home: Calm and patient home with someone who has the skills and time to encourage Mortti to open up and flourish. Most probably ok with other dogs.

VERTTI
Male, neutred
29.1.2023
Personality: Happy, playful and easygoing. Open and curious with humans, dogs, and pretty much anything. Very energetic and attention loving. Tourist work is asking a bit too much from him, we would see him being happier with bit less pressurized activites in an active home.
Health notes: Picky eater. Vertti came to us in the summer 2024 really skinny and bony. We have been able to build him some structure and muscle, but we have still been struggling to get proper mass on him.
Ideal home: Active home, enjoys shorter and faster pulling activities.

ALY
Female
23.8.2016
Personality: Really sweet and extra affectionate. Playful. Can show some resource protectiveness. Tends to pick and choose females to get along with. Has history with long distance sledding, wasn’t mentally up for shorter repetitive tours as we do here.
Health notes: Fit for her age.
Ideal home: Aly would appreciate an active retirement home with lot of time and attention.

HOOK
Male, neutred
15.7.2015
Personality: Looooves walks and is very good on the leash. Expresses happiness by barking. Easygoing, gets along with everyone, human and dogs. Strong and reliable sled dog until the end of last season, is now retiring from tourist work because of his age.
Health notes: Hook is currently on our dentist queue for upper right canine removal. Healthy and fit for his age.
Ideal home: Home with a dog companion.

PEPPI
Female
23.8.2021
Personality: Very shy and reserved, but enjoys taking walks in familiar surroundings. Not good with other dogs. She needs so much extra attention and training that we are not able to make more progress anymore with limited time resources.
Health notes: Has had few times cortisone assigned for paw issues triggered by moisture.
Ideal home: Peppi needs her own human who is able and already skillful to give her time and training. Comes along with other dogs, especially with confident male dogs.

THUNDER
Male, neutred
18.4.2017
Personality: Hight temperament, but pretty social with humas and dogs. Big and strong, but also quite sensivite. Open to new things.
Health notes: Spondylosis. Has had pain sometimes, treated with painkiller.
Ideal home: Adaptable for many different environement. Maximum moderate activity, likes to move but is sometimes limited by the spondylosis

LILLY
Female
19.8.2019
Personality: Shy but sweet. Really curious, but needs time to settle with new enviroment and people. Good with most dogs. Not too experienced with collar or leash yet. Still insecure on the walks, but easily motivated with food.
Health notes: Good eater. Has had few times cortisone assigned for paw issues triggered by moisture.
Ideal home: With someone patient who has already experience with shy dogs. Needs surely more visits than one before taking off to a new place.

KEMI
Female, neutred
31.5.2015
Personality: Extremely reliable, kind, happy and gentle, now retiring lead dog. Loves cuddles and is comfortable in pretty much any environment or situation as long as she has company. Gets along with most other dogs.
Health notes: Osteoarthritis in a toe of the right front paw. Is fit for her age and needs still a lot of activity.
Ideal home: Active home with people who have time to be around her, has shown stress behaviour when alone inside.

KIMMY & RUSO
KIMMY
Female
Date of birth unknown
Personality: A bit special, lovely dog with special history. Cuddly. One to come and meet yourself.
Health notes: Picky eater. Due to former life, the body structure is a bit weird, and there is some physical limitations for this dog. Her true age is unknown, as we and the vet have difficulties to believe the age marked in the passport she came with.
RUSO
Male, neutred
14.2.2022
Personality: Playful and cuddly. Was not comfortable with tourist work but likes shorter runs in the harness.
Health notes: Picky eater.
Ideal home: Kimmy and Ruso are searching for home together.

BAMBI
Female
6.10.2023
Personality: Sweet and positive dog, but very shy to humans with very slow progress.
Health notes: Front left paw has had few times cortisone assigned for issues triggered by moisture.
Ideal home: With someone who has time, patience and previous experience with shy dogs. Bambi being sensitive, she might benefit with some confident dog as her companion.

BIKI
Female, neutred
23.8.2021
Personality: Really positive and happy dog. Has made already a lot of progress whiting few years from people fearing dog to an open and curious girl. Enjoys petting and attention. Mostly good with other dogs. Has not shown working sled dog tendesies.
Health notes: Nothing significant to note
Ideal home: Biki searches for home without children as she has shown to be a little scared of children.
